He's lost his street cred a bit!! Fancy being scared of the rabbit! It is a good thing he has a home of his own rather than living on the streets - the other cats would laugh at him!
Robert now known as Smudge has settled in very well! When we picked him up from the farm he did not fit into the smaller carry cage, his appetite has not changed at all and his favourite food is lamb pouches! At first he was very scared of the rabbit and kept hiding behind the sofa but he has got over that! Smudge's new hobbies include hiding and pouncing on the door mat, yowling for food and trying to sneak upstairs! In the evenings he likes to sit in dad's favourite armchair or spread out across the sofa. He loves being fed and stroked and when he is in a playful mood he chases moths and doormats - but the rabbit chases him! As you can probably tell Smudge has settled in well in his new home.
Tigger and Kiara have settled in very well and already feel part of our home. They are very playful, loving and affectionate. They have already been outside once and very keen to explore more but we are introducing them to it slowly.

It is not uncommon for pairs of cats to sometimes be almost aggressive with each other much to the worry of their owners. It is perfectly natural behaviour - they normally know the boundaries and do not over step the mark. Often one minute they will be fighting, the next washing each other!
Take care with the overfeeding, obesity can cause lots of problems including a predispostiion to diabetes! It is particularly important in multi cat households where it is easy to overlook who eats what!
Dusty has settled in really well and is very loving and relaxed. She has taken over the living room as her pad, and particularly likes the armchair and the hearth rug. She also likes to sit with back legs on Alix's lap and front legs on mine, or vice versa. She is fascinated by the video macjhine and says there are mice in it. She is eating a vast amount and obviously intends to get spherical as fast as possible! Elton was initially vey distressed and kept us awake three nights in a row crying, but is now much more cheerful, and likes a bit of rolling on the stairs. He spends a lot of time under my bed but saunters there rather than running, so I think its because he likes it. He is very affectionate and likes to bite our thumbs very slowly and deliberately. He didn't eat much to start off with, but is now filling out a bit. They both spend a lot of time on the windowsills (separately) planning what they will do when we let them out. They have made no escape bids however! Dusty hits Elton a lot, but he seems to be used to it, as he doesn't react, and she obviously isn't hitting him hard. we have not observed any cuddling up between them, although Elton greets Dusty quite enthusiastically when they coincide. I think the enthusiasm is not particularly mutual but they condescend to both being stroked at the same time provided the stroker is between them. We are very impressed with their resiliance and capacity to be affectionate, their previous people obviously gave them a lot of love.

Brenda is one of our FIV+ mums whose kittens caused us so much concern whilst we waited for the results of their blood tests - all negative thank goodness! We were very pleased to hear from her new owners:

Brenda (or Daisy as she is now called) is getting on fine. For the first couple of days, we kept her in the kitchen, and she is perfectly happy in there. Although whenever she heard anyone approaching she got a bit scared and hid under the kitchen table:However, after a couple of days, she seemed to suss out that there were only the two of us in the flat, and whenever she hears someone coming it was only going to be one of us. So now whenever she hears anyone coming, she justs carries on doing whatever she was doing, normally cleaning herself.
She is a very curious cat, and watches whatever we are doing intently and now she is familiar with the lay out of the place, is happy to wander around. None of the rooms are out of bounds, (except the lounge and bedroom when we are out) and she seems to enjoy having a free reign of the rest of the place. She is a very loving cat and tends to follow us around, which we are very pleased about. We thought it might take several weeks for her to feel comfortable enough to do this. She has only just started sleeping in her bed, and seems to actually prefer lying beneath the radiator in the kitchen (who can blame her considering recent weather!) She is also a very good girl, using her litter tray and scratch post, and not scratching the furniture. She is eating well and seems very relaxed. We have moved her bed next to the radiator now and she seems far happier with it.
Simon (now called Tigger)was a stray and was quite thin when he came to us, but he is doing really well and has put on a bit of weight. He now comes and goes independently via the cat flap, he loves our large back garden and it’s wonderful to see him charging around and playing - he can certainly move very fast when he wants to! But he also loves sleeping on his favourite chair and has settled in much quicker than we thought possible. He is so friendly, playful and responsive and every day is getting more and more confidant around our other two cats (they totally ignore him!!). A big thumbs up, thank you for all that you do.

Thanks for the thanks!!

The pet sitting service sounds a good idea, cats do prefer their familiar surroundings as a general rule. No doubt they will sulk for a while on your return - just to make sure they get some tasty treats to save your guilty conscience for leaving them!!
Jet & Opal. Both are continuing to settle in really well and becoming bolder by the day - Opal even sat on my lap for five minutes the other day which is a first for her as she normally spends a few minutes walking over us before sitting next to us on the sofa, and Jet's always been the only 'lap cat' up to now. Opal ventured out of the cat flap for her first wander round the garden today. Only a 40 minute venture - don't think she was too impressed with the lack of radiators outside, though she had a good stare at the cat two doors down. Came back of her own accord and back through the cat flap We're going away to stay with parents for a few days over Christmas and today had a vist from Guardian Angel pet services to arrange for someone to come in and feed, groom and clean up while we're away. Seems like a pretty good service, certainly should be a lot less traumatic than dragging them to a cattery for just a few days. The woman who's coming in lives locally and has two cats herself - both cats came out for an introduction, though only Jet plucked up the courage to be stroked.
