Happy Endings Archive
![]() This is a very special home, many of our older cats are taken in and given loving care for their remaining life, however short that may sometimes be! Many of you may still remember Loppy, who has been immortalised on our 'Special Needs' page button. The recent additions join Dolly, a'problem cat' adopted earlier in the year. Speedy and Smokey are doing well in their new home, Debbie writes It's strange to think we have only had them for a short while as it feels as though they have been around forever, they well and truly made themselves at home from day one! As soon as they were brought home, Smokey was sprawled out on her bed like she didnt have a care in the world! |
Speedy was much more inquisitive and it was pretty much impossible for us to keep her confined to one room for the first few days with us. Since then she has just got more adventurous and had us up all night once when she went out in the evening and decided not to come home! When she heard the food bowls being rattled at 6am the next morning, she strolled into the kitchen as though nothing had happened, ate her breakfast and went up to bed! Smokey is much more laid back and prefers to stay in the garden and sunbath with Dolly or chill out on one of her numerous comfy beds throughout the house. However she will let you know if you arent paying her enough attention or are too slow with her breakfast or dinner! We have nicknamed her Smokey-Bear as she is just like a little mini bear! As you will see from the picture of Dolly, there is nothing she loves more than to sunbath (or shade bath if its really hot!) she seems to have made a good recovery from her recent health problems and is back to her normal self. We were so upset when we lost Loppy and Tinker, particularly as it was in such a short timescale. I dont think we will ever have another cat like Loppy, he really was one in a million, but it has definitely made it much easier having Speedy and Smokey around to keep us busy! Its also really nice to know that we have been able to offer a home to another pair of needy cats and they can now live out the rest of their lives happy and content. |

Olly only has 3 legs
and spent some time with us before finding a new home - the message sums it up
nicely! I just thought I'd send you some photo's of Olly, now named Poppy! She's completely settled, its as if she's been my boss forever! |
![]() When we first got Midnight & Shadow home they would not get out of the little houses that we bought them. They were terrified! Now they prefer to sleep in the corner of our living room or behind the sofa . When we came to Foal Farm to see them, we asked if they ever played and were told "no". We have since found out that they certainly do, if only at night - when those scary humans are out of the way! |
Each morning we get up and go downstairs to see what havoc they have caused overnight!! We have bought them lots of little toys etc and they love them. They must be getting a little more comfortable around us as they are starting to wake up and appear from behind the sofa earlier in the evenings and not disappearing so early in the mornings. Occassionaly they will come when called (although I think they are only checking to see if there is any food in the outstretched hand!). They both eat extremely well but, once again, mainly at night or very early morning. Surprisingly Shadow seems to be the braver of the two. She seems desparate to go outside, sitting watching the birds through the patio doors in the kitchen. Midnight is more nervous. Shadow also likes to sit on the windowsill, or on the top levels of the scratching post (shown in photo) and watch out the front window. Midnight is slightly less brave, tending to use the sofa to hind behind more often. Neither of them likes the idea of being picked up and will run away if we approach too quickly. As a family we have found ourselves walking, talking etc. very quietly so as not to scare them too much!. They do like to be stroked, especially with a grooming glove, if they are sitting safely in "their corner". |

Barney (Gobolino) is getting on very well here, you can see that he has made himself at home. He is a very friendly cat and likes to be with us all the time, following us about from room to room. He has several toys, which he disdains and doesn't even react to catnip! However, he likes nothing better than sitting on laps and as you can see, he always joins us for a bedtime story! Our daughter loves him dearly and is very proud to show him off to all her friends. His fur was a bit raggedy and his skin flaky when we adopted him. But we have given him evening primrose oil amongst other things and lots of grooming to get rid of the clumps and it has eventually worked. |

I think the pictures
speak for themselves! I know that these are long over due but I have sent some pictures of TYSON and BRUNO just so you can seen how happy and settled they are now |
![]() Buddy only has half a tail - was this the reason she was left with us for so long before finding a new home? I must admit we were a bit concerned about letting her go with other cats but her new owners were so aware of the potential problems and were prepared to persevere that we took the chance. I am so glad we did, Buddy looks very happy and she wrote to tell us so! Hi, I'm Buddy and I was very lucky to be rehomed in May this year to a lovely semi-rural home with 3 other pussy cats. I've had a bit of a struggle on my hands though as there is already a tortie here and we are battling for attention, as we torties tend to do. Most of the time its ok though; they all tend to give into me!! |
There's Oscar (tabby and white), an oldish boy and really quite lazy. Daisy is the timid black and white one who really is a push over! Now, Fudge, she's my challenge!!!! She is a couple of years older than me but she's scared of me so as you can see I'm already making my mark! Mummy and Daddy laugh at my half (hooked) tail as it goes round and round like helicopter blades when I get excited, but I know they love me to bits. I have lots of lovely places to sleep including my own 2 storey bed, and a vetbed on the sofa with the sun streaming in through the windows! I've got lots of fields around to explore in but I must say, I do tend to prefer the warmth of the house, as any of us would I guess. I don't have much need to hide under blankets anymore; I used to do that a lot to feel secure but I now know I am secure and loved so I can lay out in the open now. I thought I would send you some photos of me so you could see how I am doing.....I enclose one with me with the other tortie of the house, Fudge - I'm the one with the yellow tag (we can be friends sometimes!)!! Thank you Foal Farm for finding me a new and large family!! |
