These are 2 of Melissa's kittens who went to live in Princes Risborough! It sounds as if they have things very well organised for such little mites!
We had a very hot journey on Saturday, but we are now settling into our new home. There are lots of toys and two very attentive servants. Here is a picture of us on the enormous tower -- the servants say we will soon grow into it, and we are getting good at scrambling up it! We also enjoy ping-pong balls and pieces of string, which the servants move around. The servants have decided that Freckle's name is Daisy, and Frazzle is called Bess!

We had to bring Amber down from the main cat houses as she seemed very depressed - she was quite fearful of the other cats. Once in a proper home, things have improved dramatically as you can see!
This is an update on Amber, the sweet 3yr Female Tabby that we homed from you one week ago. She is a lovely little cat and has settled into her new home immediately. When we came to collect her from you she was so attached to her beanbag that it had to come home with us too! She loves to be the centre of attention, loves a fuss and her new catnip mouse to play with! She is eating and drinking well and putting on weight. she purrs all the time! At the moment she is curled up on the floor of the bedroom, being gently wafted by the breeze of our fan! We look forward to many happy years with her! Thank you for all that you do at FOAL - we would be lost without her!

It is really nice to hear from cats that left us many years ago especially when they are so well and happy in their new homes. Taking in older cats is very satisfying - albeit heartbreaking at times and we are very grateful to people like Lyne and her family for taking on our 'special needs' animals. Thyroid tumours are very common in older cats but fortunately are easily controlled either by medication or surgical removal.
Just over 7 years ago we adopted Chelsea and Rosie. They are beautiful cats. Rosie is white was very nervous even losing patches of fur through nerves. Chelsea, the tabby, had no such problems and despite having very few teeth and being 8 years old she showed herself to be a very loving cat - on her terms!!!! She has had a thyroidectomy in the past and recovered amazingly fast. However, recently I noticed changes in her behaviour - guzzling water, asking for food, a greasy coat - so we went to the vet for her annual jab and I asked him to check her out. It transpires that she has another thyroid tumour on the other side! Poor thing she is now 15 + . Cleo also came to us from FOAL (initially as a foster cat)- weighing more than my JRT!! She is now on a prescribed diet food and is a much slimmer cat - Patch is a young boy who also came to us as a foster cat with sore patches on his shoulders. Since being in our home he has been weaned off treatment and his sores have never returned. Chelsea is very much in charge and tells all the others off. These 4 cats are wonderful despite their problems, it is so satisfying to see the difference in their lives.

It is not often we get letters from our ex-cats themselves - is it the extra toe that does it? There is a club for 5-toed cats and their owners so there is obvoiously something speical about them!

I just wanted to say a big thanks to all of you for looking after me so well when I was staying at Foal Farm. I really do appreciate everything you did for me but hope you won't think I'm ungrateful if I tell you that I'm much happier now in my new home. The only thing I don't like about it here is that I haven't been allowed to go outside. I sometimes sit on the kitchen windowsill and look at the garden. There are some lovely butterflies out there that I can't wait to chase and I'm hoping that if I keep asking I'll be allowed to go outside toplay soon. Thanks again for looking after me and for finding me some nice new friends and a lovely home to live in.
Lots of meows

P.S. Being a six-toed cat I had a bit of trouble with the keyboard so this was kindly typed for me by Caroline.
I've been in here for a week and have settled in very quickly.I was a bit nervous when I first arrived but mostly I think I was just glad to be out of the car. It was a very hot day and I really didn't like it but I think Richard has forgiven me for peeing in his 'pride and joy'! Caroline and Richard gave me lots of cuddles when we got inside the house and made me feel very welcome. I had a drink and a snack and then, because I was feeling a bit tired after all of the excitement, I curled up on Caroline's lap and went to sleep. I like Caroline a lot and when I was first here and not so sure of the place I followed her everywhere because she made me feel safe but I don't think she minded! On my second day here I decided to be very brave and set out to explore my new home. Caroline came with me because I was still a little bit nervous but before long I had got my bearings and was a lot more confident. I know my way around now and have explored every nook and cranny. I like to pass the time looking out of the front window at people going past and one of the neighbours has even been round especially to visit me. My favourite place of all though is the blue sofa. I like sitting there during the day because not only is it really comfy but I can see most of downstairs and keep a check on everybody's movements. Just because my eyes are closeddoesn't actually mean that I'm sleeping! When I'm not having snoozes I like playing and I have some fab new toys. My favourite is Catnip Mouse and I'm sending you a picture of me playing with it as well as one of me in a more relaxed pose on the sofa.
Sidney was rehomed in April and is very happy and relaxed as you can see! His new owners write:
He is a lovely cat, very laid back - he rarely moves out of the house! - and takes everything in his stride. He quickly established the best spots to sleep - the desk (my paperwork is covered with paw prints!), the travel bags and occasionally - the cat basket! He sleeps a lot and very soundly, waking up when the rest of us want to go to bed! He loves the garden and sometimes jumps from the first floor window onto the garage roof, rather than use the cat flap. We are so pleased he came home with us!
