Fernando is an
FIV+ cat, which is the equivalent of being HIV+ in humans. This cannot be
transferred to humans and can only be passed to other cats through fighting or
mating. Because there is a slight risk, we home these cats as indoor cats. His
new owner wrote to us recently with this plea: Please could you put his details on your website to prove that FIV+ cats are just like any other normal everyday cat except they stay inside. He has settled into his new home with great ease and a little excitement. He has turned out to be a playful, affectionate and highly amusing cat and I wouldn't be without him for the world |

It is strange how
cats behave differently in different situations. Pebbles was returned to
us for wetting in the house and we were concerned about rehoming her although
it is likely she was doing it due to stress. Her new owners write: We adopted
Pebbles on 12th May. and she has settled in very well. She continually purrs to
anyone who will listen and demands a lot of attention, (which she continually
gets!) Despite her problems she had with 'wetting' whilst being in a previous
home, this is not th case with us. She has had no accidents at all. She is the
ruler of her own domain, especially when it comes to the settee or the centre
of the bed!!! Thank you for letting us adopt Pebbles, she is a delight to have
as part of our family. Sounds like a real Happy Ending! |
![]() ![]() We hope that they'll be with us for a long time and we'd like to thank Foal Farm for all the great work it does giving cats like Patch and Oscar a chance of a new home. Thanks for that, we do appreciate compliments! |
Anita wanted a black cat and I wanted a tortie - so we visited the cat houses at Foal. A small rather fat tortie (Patch) plodded up to have a look at me. A black & white cat (Oscar) convinced Anita that he was black! They settled in really well, in spite of the house being full of boxes! Oscar is very easy going, loves the garden and cuddles, gets on with the neighbour's cats and keeps us entertained, he's a bit of a clown. Patch took longer to settle down and she is not affectionate in the same way Oscar is although she will come and sit near or next to us at every opportunity and loves sleeping on the beds. She tends to overgroom but she's much less bald underneath than she was when we got her . A friend rather unkindly suggested that she had a bald undercarriage because it dragged on the ground! They play a lot together, and sometimes fight, with Patch usually emerging victorious as she uses her cannon ball stature to good effect and simply flattens him! |
![]() ![]() Regular visitors to the site will remember Igor as he was with us for some time. Fortunately he went to live in a super home with several of our other 'problem' cats. We heard from him and his partner, who was Kitty when with us. |
Duchess is settling in really well as you can see - she hisses at all of the other cats but they all ignore this! Sooty is very interested in making friends with her, but she seems to be playing hard to get! We're having a little more trouble with Igor - in his first few days with us, after he was free to roam around the house, he attacked both Sooty & Fluff. We now think that he is a little brain damaged and is actually trying to play, though the other cats can't understand this because he's so big. He is a little slow and he does seem to get confused very easily, though he is trying his best to fit in. We're taking it all very gently and rewarding positive behaviour (and doing our best to ignore all of the growling and hissing)! |
