Magic is virtually blind and we therefore thought it would be best if she stayed indoors in a flat. Suzanne took her home and writes ' Magic is doing really well and has settled in nicely. She is such a lovely cat, everyone adores her' |
![]() ![]() The most important thing when taking on a new cat is to remember that it will take time before they settle down - could be weeks or even months! Please be patient! |
Misty & Shelley have been in their new home for nearly 4 months and they have settled into their new home very well. Lyndsey wrote to say:The first week or so was quite tough, they just bolted and went back to hiding behind the bathroom door. They still run and hide when someone knocks at the door, but do venture back out. They are two VERY different cats. Misty loves playing with "her" ping pong balls and string. Shelley is more interested in rubbing round your hand that is holding the string! Shelley has turned into a very vocal cat! When she is hungry, when she wants to play, when she wants to be stroked.....Thank you so much for letting me know about Misty and Shelley. I'm glad I was able to give them a new home and that they seem happy to be here. |
![]() Jan's comment: This is often a problem when a new cat moves in. The main thing is to give them time to adjust, it may take months before they accept each other. As this lady says, Tiger feels betrayed and jealous and needs reassurance that she is still loved. Don't punish, give treats when the cats are together. Make sure the routine of the resident cat is not too upset. |
Binkka (now known as Pushkin)'s new owner writes: He's a real sweetie, very affectionate, though a bit timid of the outside world. He doesn't spend long in the garden but was house-trained within days. Tiger, the resident cat, still hisses and growls at him but he is mystified rather than intimidated by her. Tiger seems a bit resentful towards me and at first I couldn't go near her without her lashing out - my hands were ripped to shreds. Fortunately she's calmed down a bit and I'm optimisitic she'll eventually become resigned to Pushkin's presence . Certainly, I wouldn't be without him. |
