Happy Beginnings!
Sadly, many neglectful owners fail to get their cats neutered and thus condemn the queens to a tedious life of giving birth and litter raising 2/3 times per year throughout their breeding life. Cute as kittens are, they soon grow into adults and swell the numbers of unwanted pets searching for new, responsible homes. The pregnant queens that arrive at FOAL Farm are the lucky ones, the current litter will be their last! As soon as the kittens are weaned and vaccinated at 8 weeks, Mum will be spayed and ready for a new life unhindered by the demands of raising offspring. So, through the pages of the website, enjoy watching the progress of our latest families.
Tiger Lilly came in with her sister but as she was pregnant she could not be rehomed. Happily, the lady who took her sister has promised to return for Tiger Lilly when her kittens are weaned. So it's a Happy Ending as well as a Happy Beginning! Take a look at her little ones. Please be careful if you buy kittens from a pet shop or non-reputable breeder, you will pay a premium price for animals that have not been examined by a vet, not been regularly treated for fleas and worms and not been vaccinated. Although tempting to 'rescue' kittens from this type of environment, getting a high price will encourage these sellers to repeatedly breed from their queens and take the kittens away earlier than they should resulting in weak, poorly developed pets that could carry disease and have behavioural problems in the future. The fees we charge include at least 1 vaccination (£25), microchipping (£15) and a donation to cover 'board & lodgings' as well as flea/worm treatment. This donation part is halved for the second kitten as we do prefer to home them in pairs.
If you would like to offer a home to a kitten (or preferably a pair) we ask that you have your homecheck done first - please contact us with details of your location and we will put you in touch with your local Homevetter. We do not home kittens to familes that work full time or have children under 4 years of age. If you work part time (4hrs) you do need to take a pair unless you already have a youngish cat.
